Embark on the Northern Thailand Loop, offering an unparalleled riding experience over 15 ride-days. This journey features some of the most scenic and renowned roads in the world, including the famous Mae Hong Son Loop, the Golden Triangle, the Boklua Loop, and the routes surrounding Nan, notably the celebrated R1148, which has been recognized as one of the top ten riding roads globally.
Throughout this adventure, you will have the opportunity to visit Thailand’s highest peak, Doi Inthanon, explore the intriguing Long Neck Tribes, and admire the lush tea plantations in the mountains of Doi Mae Salong. Additionally, you will witness the historic Sukhothai Historical Park and experience the remarkable Golden Triangle, where the borders of Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand converge.
The journey also includes breathtaking views of the Mekong River, the majestic mountains of Phu Chi Fha and Phu Tubberk, many other extraordinary sights and of course a beautiful temple or two. This loop promises an unforgettable combination of scenic beauty, cultural richness, and thrilling riding experiences. Day 1. Arrival in Chiang Mai
We meet at the hotel at 14:00 (2 PM) after your arrival in Chiang Mai for check in and tour briefing. Then we will go to pick up your bike in walking distance nearby. You will enjoy a one-night stay at a comfortable local hotel. During your evening there, you will have the opportunity to choose a variety of excellent restaurants and bars within walking distance from your accommodation, allowing you to experience the vibrant local nightlife and culinary scene.
Day 2. Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai (285 km)
We will start by riding towards Fang, then onto Route 109 towards Chiang Rai, where we can test our skills on the winding roads. Before reaching Chiang Rai, we’ll visit the famous “White Temple.” In the evening, we’ll enjoy ourselves at a restaurant and bar, and we’ll take a glance at the renowned “Clock Tower,” located in the center of the city.

Day 3. Chiang Rai - Chiang Khong (190 km)
We will start our journey by riding up to Mae Sai, the northernmost town in Thailand that borders Myanmar. We’ll stop for a coffee and look at the border acticity before continuing our ride along the Mekong River towards the Golden Triangle. After exploring the Golden Triangle, we will head along the Mekong River through Paradise Road and into Chiang Khong where we’ll stay right by the river. We’ll relax at the hotel before enjoying a delicious dinner in the evening. It will be a short and pleasant riding day.

Day 4. Chiang Khong - Nan (310 km)
On this day, we’ll have even more twists and turns to enjoy. We’ll start by riding to the mountains of “Phu Chi Fha” on some of Thailand’s best roads, then onto the famous Route 1148, which has been named one of the world’s best motorcycle routes. We’ll ride through enchanting jungle and mountainous regions, passing through several national parks along the way. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Nan, where we can take a refreshing dip oin the pool and then explore the town for a meal.

Day 5: Nan rest day or optional Boklua Loop (0 or 200 km)
Today you can rest by the pool, experience the city of Nan, or you can join us for a 200 km loop with some of the best riding roads there is. We recommend you to go with us.

Day 6. Nan - Uttaradit (247 km)
We will start our journey from Nan on “regular” roads until we reach Si Nan National Park, where the curves begin again in beautiful surroundings. We’ll pass through a few national parks today as well, and we’ll cross the Sirikit Dam. We’ll be staying in Uttaradit, which is a fairly large city. After our arrival, we’ll relax by the pool with a cold drink.

Day 7. Uttaradit - Loei (314 km)
We’ll return to some “regular” roads, but we will still enjoy some twists and turns today. We’ll pass through small towns and beautiful mountain passes. After we pass through the town of Donsai, we’ll drive all the way up to the Laotian border and visit the Chiang Khan Skywalk, where we can gaze out over the Mekong River and across to Laos. From there, it’s a straight route down to Loei. In the evening, we’ll visit a local biker bar.

Day 8. Loei - Phitsanulok (312 km)
We’ll start our journey from Loei on a bit of “highway” before turning off and heading back into the mountains. We’ll visit a place called Phu Tubberk, which is located at 1,768 meters, so it might get a bit chilly—make sure to have an extra jacket ready. We’ll take the same route back and head out onto Route 12. If we have time, we’ll make a few interesting stops along the way. Route 12 is a main highway but delightful to drive. We’ll explore what Phitsanulok has to offer in the afternoon and evening.

Day 9. Phitsanulok - Chom Thong via Doi Chong National Park (329 km)
We’ll start the day on the main road to Sukhothai. We’ll stop to visit the Sukhothai Historical Park, which features ancient ruins dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. After that, we’ll leave the main road and drive through agricultural areas on lovely roads, where the curves will be a bit more relaxed today. We’ll also pass through Doi Chong National Park and we will be staying in the rural town of Chom Thong in nice bungalows.

Day 10. Doi Inthanon Loop (Thailand`s highest peak) (80 km)
Today, we’ll head up to Thailand’s highest mountain, Doi Inthanon, which stands at 2,565 meters. We’ll ride to the summit, stopping at several places along the way. We’ll visit a cozy spot to enjoy lunch. It can get chilly at the top, so be sure to bring warm clothing.

Day 11: Chom Thong - Mae Sot (353 km)
Today, we’ll encounter many agricultural areas and traverse another part of Doi Chong National Park, where we’ll return to the winding roads we’ve experienced before, though not as intense. We’ll also spend 100 kilometers on highways, for some easy relaxing riding. We will get back onto Route 12 towards Mae Sot, a town located right by the Burmese border.

Day 12: Mae Sot - Mae Sariang (240 km)
We’ll start the day by riding along the border to Myanmar, where many refugee camps are located, housing immigrants from Myanmar/Burma. We’ll stop to look around and take photos. Then, we’ll head back into the mountains on the familiar winding roads from the first part of our journey. We’ll stop at several locations to take more pictures. We’ll be staying in the town of Mae Sariang, which is also located near the Burmese border.

Day 13: Mae Sariang - Mae Hong Son (190 km)
Now we’re truly back on winding roads with beautiful scenery again. It will be a short riding day in terms of distance, as we’ll visit Huay Pa Keng Long Neck Village just before Mae Hong Son. Getting there will take some time since we need to take a boat to reach the village. We will also visit view points and a lot of other interesting sites today.

Day 14: Mae Hong Son - Pai (170 km)
We’ll drive to Pai on a notably mega-twisty road. Along the way, we’ll stop in small villages to enjoy a cup of coffee and do some sightseeing. We’ll also visit Lod Cave, where we can take a boat through the caves. The roads to Pai are incredible again, and we’ll be staying in Pai for two nights, experience the “hippie-city” of the Northern Thailand.

Day 14: Rest day in Pai
Pai is an old “hippie town” full of life. We’ll be staying right on “Walking Street,” surrounded by numerous bars and restaurants. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy, with plenty of activities to explore in Pai itself.

Day 14: Pai - Chiang Mai (145 km)
Today is our last riding day towards Chiang Mai, and we’ll enjoy a fantastic finish with beautiful twisty roads and scenery. We’ll return the motorcycles and relax with a cold beer by the pool, celebrating the end of a wonderful journey. Of course, we’ll also have a farewell dinner in the evening for those of you that choose to stay.
